Quick Overview Of Column Chromatography

Before performing a separation on a chromatographic column, it is highly recommended to make different tests on thin layer chromatography (TLC) to find the best conditions for the separation. It is then important to use the same solvent system and adsorbent afterwards, on flash chromatography.

This document includes the principal common steps for performing flash chromatography:

1-Methodology
2-Theory of separation
3-Choice of solvent
4-Loading the column
5-Solvent equilibration
6-Loading of the sample
7-Column capacity

  1. SiliaBond® Cyano

    SiliaBond® Cyano

SiliaBond® Cyano (Si-CN) can be used both in normal and reversed-phase chromatography as its polarity marks the separation between the polar and non-polar phases. SiliaBond Cyano is the least retentive polar sorbent in normal phase chromatography and the least retentive of the non-polar sorbents in reversed-phase chromatography.

  2. SiliaBond® Cyano nec

    SiliaBond® Cyano nec

SiliaBond® Cyano (Si-CN) can be used both in normal and reversed-phase chromatography as its polarity marks the separation between the polar and non-polar phases. SiliaBond Cyano is the least retentive polar sorbent in normal phase chromatography and the least retentive of the non-polar sorbents in reversed-phase chromatography.
